Homemade Apple Streusel

This warm fluffy oatmeal dough is covered in a crunchy streusel, apple slices, and a sweet cinnamon syrup. Guaranteed to make your morning quick and delicious.

Homemade Apple Streusel

INGREDIENTS

Base

  • 4 tbsp (1/2 stick) butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 medium tart apples, cut into thin slices
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup oats, uncooked
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

Streusel

  • 1/2 cup oats, uncooked
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. To make the streusel: Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and melted butter in a small bowl; stir until crumbly. Set aside.
  2. Heat oven to 350. Place margarine in 8 in square glass baking dish. Bake 3 to 5 mins or until margarine is melted. Remove from oven. Stir in sugar and cinnamon. Add apples; stir until apples are well coated with sugar mixture. Bake 10 to 15 mins or until apples have softened, stir occasionally.
  3. In a large bowl combine flour, oats, baking powder, and salt; mix well. In a small bowl, combine milk and egg; blend well. Add to dry ingredients all at once; stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. (Do not over mix). Spoon over apple mixture into the baking dish, spread batter to sides of the dish. Sprinkle reserved oat streusel over batter.
  4. Bake 25-30 mins.

    This was by far the best Apple streusel recipe I have made. Both of this kids loved it. I made it a second time with less sugar and it still tasted great!
