Homemade Ham and Cheese Casserole

This homemade Ham N’ Cheese casserole is a classic staple in our household. Super simple to whip up, yet is delicious down to the very last bite! Quick and easy to prepare this a great meal option on the go or when you have plans and not much time to spend in the kitchen.

Ham N’ Cheese Casserole

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pkg (8 oz) medium noodles
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 tsp basil leaves
  • 2 cups (8 oz) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups cubed cook ham (1/2 lb)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Cook noodles according to package directions; drain well. In a 1 quart sauce pan melt butter; blend in flour and pepper. Cook over low heat until mixture is smooth. Remove from heat.
  2. Stir in milk and basil, heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 min, add 1 1/2 cups of cheese just until melted.
  3. Place half of noodles in a 1 1/2 quart buttered shallow baking dish; sprinkle over 3/4 cup of ham and 1 tbsp green pepper. Pour over 1 cup of sauce. Add second layer of noodles. Sprinkle over remaining ham and green pepper. Pour over remaining sauce. Top with remaining 1/2 cup of cheese.
  4. Bake in preheated 350 oven for 30 mins, let stand 5 mins before serving. ENJOY!
