INGREDIENTS

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Cream shortening, brown sugar, molasses, and egg until fluffy.
  2. Sift together flour, soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves; stir into molasses mixture.
  3. Form in small balls. Roll balls in granulated sugar; place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake at 375 for 12 mins.
